Posy Laboratory provides environmentally friendly and locally grown floral design to conscious consumers and businesses.

This LGBTQIA+ woman-owned small business was established to help reduce the impact the floral industry has on the desert and to provide alternative solutions to couples, event hosts, tourists, and locals. Posy Laboratory fulfills the need for sustainable floral arrangements – including environmentally friendly, locally grown, and rented materials – and celebrates the beloved, unique plants of the desert.

our values

At Posy Laboratory, sustainability is our foundation. As an eco-friendly florist in Joshua Tree, we design with intention using reusable, compostable materials and avoiding floral foam to reduce waste and protect the desert environment. Whenever possible, we gather greens and flowers directly from our Mojave Garden, where we grow native and desert-adapted plants that support pollinators, birds, and local wildlife.

We collaborate with local flower farmers and small businesses, giving back to the community that inspires our work. We proudly identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community and are committed allies to the BIPOC community, supporting inclusivity, equity, and celebration of diverse voices. At Posy Laboratory, we create a welcoming space where all love and creativity are free to bloom.

Every arrangement is guided by care, mindfulness, and joy honoring nature’s resilience and helping redefine what it means to flourish in the Mojave Desert.

our methods

Desert globemallow flowers on a shrub

We make sure to include as many desert-grown flora in our designs as possible, and those plants are grown in our garden, Mojave Garden. From plants that can tolerate the heat of summer to those that survive the freezing temperatures of winter, everything is carefully chosen. Water conservation is a key part of our mission, and we're always trying to select plants adapted to the climate of the Mojave Desert and California.

Not only does Mojave Garden bring in pollinators and butterflies, but many other wildlife also call it home. Roadrunners, quail, hummingbirds, house finches, mourning doves, desert cottontail rabbits, lizards, desert iguanas, and even red racer snakes make their homes here. We're committed to composting and always opt for eco-friendly and compostable materials when designing arrangements. When we can't grow something or it's not in season, we turn to small flower farms, local growers, and small floral markets next.
